Adult Education and Family Literacy Week raises public awareness about the need for and value of adult education and family literacy. Did you know 19% of adults in Montcalm County struggle with basic academic skills? Navigating life with low literacy skills is simply more difficult. Imagine finding a job or communicating with your child’s teacher. And the challenge doesn’t stop there- adults with low literacy face poorer health, lower wages, and higher rates of unemployment. Improving literacy levels benefits everyone.
