Remembering Les Morford

Longtime community educator Les Morford passed away on December 17 after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Les served as a MARC tutor, tutor trainer, and supporter for many years. His wife, Vesta, was a member of the MARC Board of Directors. During his time with MARC, Les was instrumental in helping displaced Electrolux workers improve their skills to find new jobs. His community outreach helped many people learn the English language and achieve citizenship. In 2007, Les was named “MARC Volunteer of the Year .” His passion for education and ability to connect with people made him an outstanding volunteer. He inspired many tutors, students, and supporters throughout his time with MARC.

The family of Les Morford is holding a visitation on from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, December 23, at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. A celebration of his life and reception is scheduled on Sunday, January 5 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, Greenville.

  1. Thank you all for this tribute to our Dad. He loved his work with MARC and had many good experiences as tutor and teaching and supporting the mission. We will all miss him and his intelligence, insight, and willingness to give.
